One of the biggest questions I get from clients is, “do i really need a second shooter?” That’s a totally valid question! Planning a wedding is such an important investment, and I get that couples often times look for ways to cut down on costs where they can… or where they think they should (hehe!) Does this sound like you? I’m here to help!! Below, I’m sharing all the tea on WHY second shooters are now always included in my wedding photography packages… and why I no take them out of those packages. I promise, it’s to give YOU the best wedding experience I possibly can!
Second shooters provide different angles & a different perspective!
I loooooove having a second shooter with me at every wedding!! A huge reason for that is simply put… another camera, another one of me! Another perspective and angle on the same moment! And not to mention those instances where the bride and groom are getting ready at two totally separate locations.
For example: Mollie got ready at her mother’s house in Little Rock. Iou-Ren got ready at a hotel suite downtown, and we all met up after about an hour at their wedding location: Heiffer International. It would have been next to impossible for me to get to both locations before heading to the ceremony site. So I met up with Mollie and the girls and sent my second shooter to meet up with Iou and the guys! Then we all met up at Heiffer International for the rest of the day! Also how sweet are Loran and Logan (below?) – this is the same moment of their first look. One image from me, one from my second shooter. The couple received both in their final gallery!
Second shooters can help out in a timeline pinch!
Life happens and sometimes… we get behind schedule! Eeeep! But it’s okay! I can be fast and efficient to get us caught back up, and you know what helps even more? Having a second shooter! Sometimes we can “divide and conquer” family pictures or bridal party pictures if we get behind schedule! Or I’ll stay and finish bridal party photos while the second shooter goes ahead of me begins ceremony and reception detail photos!
At Loran and Logan’s wedding in October at Royal Ridge, we were a bit behind schedule so while I started on group photos of Loran and the bridesmaids, my awesome second shooter, Nancy Cole, started on the groomsmen’s individual portraits with Logan! It helped us get caught back up and back on schedule!
Second shooters result in more images for YOU!
This one may seem obvious but it goes without saying, another photographer = more images in your final wedding gallery. The value of those precious images you will receive in your final gallery far outweighs the money you’d save (if we’re being transparent… a couple hundred dollars at most) in the long run! Providing each of my couples with a second shooter is how I’ve been able to give my couples the best experience – so each of my wedding packages now comes with one!
I hope this was helpful for you! Whether I’m your photographer or somebody else is, I think having a second shooter is so valuable and you shouldn’t skip out on it! If you’re interested in chatting with me about photographing YOUR wedding, I’d love for you to contact me HERE!
